Friends, I posted this petition online yesterday. We have 142 signatures currently, which is good, but we can do better. Please share this widely on all your social networks and with all of your interested groups.
Since some of you do not know me, I, Jack Heller, wrote this petition. I am a professor of English at Huntington University in Indiana, and I am a prison volunteer. When I first heard of Keith Cooper's struggle, I wondered what could be done about it. I hope this petition helps. No one should have had to spend almost ten years in prison for a crime he did not commit and then continue to experience the stigma of being labeled a felon. Mr. Cooper is not a felon, and it is wrong that Indiana's governor has not signed his request for a pardon.
I know that some relatives of Mr. Cooper have signed the petition. If you have a good photo I may use to attach to this petition, I think it would help people to identify with him. If you are willing with your permission, please send me a digital photo attached to an email to jheller@huntington.edu.
I am praying for Mr. Cooper to get his pardon. If you pray, please do so as well.
Blessings,
Jack Heller
