Stop all activities related to the Lakhwar Dam Project on River Yamuna!
Stop all activities related to the Lakhwar Dam Project on River Yamuna!
The Issue
Unplanned and unrestrained development have already rendered the Yamuna a dead river which is over-polluted, spreads disease amongst animals and people and regularly and devastatingly floods farmlands and homes. Another ill-considered dam project can do nothing but exacerbate this situation. Every day, there are stories across the media about the deteriorating Yamuna and activists who are working to save the river. Therefore, we, the signatories, join our voices with those of the eminent lawyers, activists, groups and individuals who addressed the following petition to you on April 22 (please see original of this petition on the South Asia Network on Dams, Rivers and People website: http://sandrp.wordpress.com/2013/04/22/lakhwar-dam-project-why-the-project-should-not-go-ahead/)
