Indian Oil retirees receive nearly 50% of pension as compared to pension by ONGC retirees
The Issue
It may surprise you that Indian Oil retirees receive pension that is nearly 50% of what their counterparts from retirees from other oil sector get. And, this shall be based on their salary as on Dec. 31, 2006 in contrast to the retirees from other oil sector companies get their pension based on their salary as on Jan. 1, 2007. As the salary revision on account of long term settlement became effective from Jan.1, 2007 and shall remain effective for 10 years, the pension for Indian Oil retirees shall stand frozen till Dec. 31, 2016. This affects the retirees who retire even after Jan. 1, 2007.
This has been a matter of grave injustice. That the Indian Oil retirees have been getting their pensions based on the salary in a scale of pay that was firmed up in the year 1997.
We need a parity with retirees from other oil sector companies such as ONGC. That this disparity has been caused by a Fortune 500 company that has caused such a grave injustice to its employees who toiled hard for more than 3 decades to make this company what it is today.
Please help us consolidate our struggle in meeting our objective.
