It's been 2 years since this incident. A lot has happened. Today, caste discrimination is being outlawed in the state of California. And yet, caste-discrimination is aggressively practiced in India. Darshan Solanki, a young Dalit student at IIT Bombay lost his life because of it in Feb 2023.

This petition was started by a bunch of researchers working on the impact of caste in academia, discourses, social psychology, political fabric, and gender. We thought holding institutions accountable would be one way to fight. Thanks to all of you, we have had some wins. Many IITs, like IIT Delhi, have an SC ST committee now.
