IPSO must ensure apologies are printed in same font size and on the same page as offending headline
The Issue
When IPSO order a newspaper to make an apology the offending newspaper will usually make sure it is as obscure as possible. This is unacceptable. A newspaper that chooses to besmirch someone's reputation to boost sales should not only be fined to a level that acts as a genuine deterrent, they should be forced to display any apology as prominently as the original offending article. Therefore if the original article drew the reader in with a prominent front page headline, the apology should be displayed in an equivalent manner.
