I wanted to comment an update, the superintendent got back with me and he stated in regard to just buzzing people in he is going to have a meeting with the principals to discuss this and help the secretaries be more ”diligent in having a visual before allowing someone in”. He also mentioned how the high school and Wilson middle school both have security vestibules at the entrances now. It literally cost them $200,000 a year just to have TWO school resource officers. It’s absolutely unacceptable. I’m hoping Newark police are willing to work with myself/other parents or the schools in general to see if we can gather volunteers or retired officers or even trained civilians that are willing to take less pay or just simply volunteer to protect the schools in their free time. He said he is more than willing to work with parents and the Newark police to keep the students even safer, so please keep sharing and signing and I will keep bringing this to the attention of Newark PD as well as the licking County sheriffs office as my next step!
