On 31st October at 12 midday in 6 cities across the UK we are organising a major demonstration to demand better rights for working families. The demonstrations are called March of the Mummies and we are asking people to dress up as mummies (the walking dead kind) to represent the archaic legislation that is currently in place. Families are welcome. The march has 5 demands which will be presented to MPs on Parliament Square Increase the time limit to raise a tribunal claim from 3 months to (at least) 6 months Require companies to report on how many flexible working requests are made and how many are granted Give both parents access to 6 weeks parental leave paid at 90% of salary Give the self-employed access to statutory shared parental pay Subsidise childcare from 6 months old, rather than 3 years If you want to see both parents have equal access to parental leave, if you are tired of seeing 54,000 women a year lose their jobs for getting pregnant, if you have found returning to work incredibly difficult due to the astronomical cost of childcare and the severe lack of flexible working options, then join us on 31st October in London, Newcastle, Manchester, Belfast, Cardiff and Glasgow to dress up, march, sing, chant and demand better rights for working parents.
