On March 8th, 2022, these issues were presented to the Monroe City Council.

During the public comment period of the March 8th, 2022, council meeting the Monroe City Council was advised of the concerns listed in this petition. Those comments are online for viewing and will be in the council minutes for future reference.

The City Council members were informed of the public's difficulty to fully participate in the rezoning process because of the size of the online meeting packets, the number of times the re-zoning proposals are changed (sometimes the day of and during the council meeting), and the lack of adequate time for the public to review the modified proposal prior council’s vote. The City Council was told of the confusion and anxiety felt by the neighbors of the proposed residential developments when the applications are in constant change.

This petition was referenced to show the public’s support for making a revision before voting on the new UDO so that major changes made to the rezoning proposals go back for a public hearing at the planning board.

So, the City Council members are aware of your concerns and have over a month before the new UDO is voted on. It is now up to the members of the City Council to decide if they will fix these issues or vote to continue a process that many feel is broken.
