Over the weekend The Raider team was sent off to Ft. Knox military base to compete in the National Raider Challenge. This competition hosted hundreds of teams representing all 50 states and overseas bases from Poland, Guam, and Japan.
This was an intense challenge, to say the least!
The Team showed true grit and will to persevere through adversity by showing their true character on the field. By doing so, they stood like the true warriors they are finding themselves within the TOP 20 in the entire nation and even walking away with an award to show off! This is an amazing feat to achieve considering the Kenton County JROTC program has only been around for 7 short years!
This morning, I sent an email to a variety of Central Office personnel including Mr. Henry Webb (Superintendent) making sure they were aware of this amazing accomplishment. Mr. Webb, quickly responded to my email letting me know that he would reach out to the team to learn more, and thanked me for sharing.
The team has expressed that they would be happy to pass on being on the athletic roster if the schools would just recognize their activity and accomplishments as they do for everyone else in the newsletters and PA announcements. Which in reality is all they are striving for. I feel that should be very doable and would assist in their recruiting efforts for the program as well.
