Research consistently shows that approximately 80% of domestic violence offending is never reported to police. That means for every case that reaches a courtroom, four more never do. The system doesn't just fail survivors inside the court. It fails the ones who never made it there at all — because they didn't believe it would make a difference. Because the law told them, through its silence and its loopholes, that their lives were worth less.
We are fighting to close four specific, documented loopholes in NSW law — gaps that allow GPS monitoring devices to be removed without criminal charge, verbal death threats to carry lesser weight than written ones, and protection orders to expire while a perpetrator is still in prison.
