The SLOCOG meeting went very well. There was about an hour and 45 minutes of comments, most in support of changing El Campo. What was key was the number of people that showed up to show their support and tell their own stories of how El Campo has hurt them and is unsafe. The Tribune has an article and also video of my speech - we were allowed 9 minutes for Becky, Nicole and I. They voted for funding the study and went further to expressing urgency that something be done right away to make it safer. Exactly what we wanted. They asked for a meeting next Friday to get all parties together to examine what they can do. We met that afternoon with Jordan Cunningham’s District 35 Assemblyman’s office and they are very supportive. They are facilitating the meeting next week with all agencies that have input.
We are very very hopeful. But will continue our efforts non stop until we see changes actually put in place. So please post and share on Facebook - and continue to get folks to sign the petition.
