First, I want to sincerely thank all 157 community members who signed the petition to prioritize snow removal at St. Paul’s School in Lakefield. Your support truly made a difference.

At the February 10, 2026 Council meeting, the Township passed Resolution No. 2026-027 in response to our petition.

As a result:

✔️ Public Works has reviewed Lakefield’s winter control operations

✔️ Snow removal timing has been adjusted

✔️ Downtown Lakefield and St. Paul’s School will now be addressed earlier in the mornings when snow removal is required

✔️ The department will continue monitoring the changes to ensure safe and timely service

Public Works has also connected with both the public and Catholic school boards, and they are satisfied with the service adjustments that have been made.

This was never about criticism it was about safety for our children, families, and pedestrians. I’m grateful that Council listened and took action.
