Thank you to everyone who has signed and shared this petition your support is making an impact. As of today, we have 70 signatures, and the Township of Selwyn’s Manager of Public Works has confirmed that the snow-clearing route around St. Paul Catholic Elementary School is being reviewed with operations staff.
Our concern remains the same: children, parents, staff, and bus drivers are being forced to navigate uncleared, unsalted, and un-sanded roads and sidewalks during school drop-off and pick-up times, creating real safety risks.
We have also shared that many other Ontario municipalities — including Tecumseh, Georgina, Stratford, St. Thomas, and Springwater — already prioritize school zones during winter maintenance. This shows that a school-focused approach is both reasonable and achievable.
This review is a positive first step, but continued community support is essential to ensure meaningful change. Please keep signing and sharing the petition so we can show the township how important school zone safety is to residents.
Thank you for standing up for safer school routes.
