Hi all – the support has been overwhelming from all sides. It turns out people don’t like miserable commutes, mayors don’t like their town being disadvantaged, businesses don’t like struggling to attract talent. 600 people have signed the petition in a little over 2 days. Most encouraging is the support and feedback from our local officials, including some who are already deeply engaged on the issue.

INCREASING THE NUMBER OF SIGNATURES IS CRUCIAL. Please share with friends, family, coworkers, employees, community groups. With the "draft schedules" still being finalized and real momentum, this might be the best opportunity we get.

Next steps involve formal discussions with the MTA and state officials, which our local officials are working on. In the short term, we believe there are various solutions to improve service that do not require meaningful capital investments – more direct NYC options, express trains, ensuring seamless / timely Jamaica to Grand Central transfers, etc. Over the medium term, it seems clear the MTA will need to modernize the 13 miles of unelectrified track on the line - that will not happen overnight, but we believe there are paths forward.

Many of you have been incredibly helpful - sharing the petition, connecting with local leaders and businesses – thank you!
