👉 One of the changes we’d like to see from Gwinnett County Animal Shelter is to always issue a last call list to rescues and volunteers. Currently, last call lists are only published sometimes and volunteers/rescues are left in the dark as to which dogs will be euthanized next.
This can save many more lives if people have time to network these dogs.
A couple of weeks ago, the shelter did issue a last call on 9 dogs. Of the 9, 7 were saved. Unfortunately, two were euthanized (George and Bishop).
We understand that not all dogs can be saved, but we are happy that so many were saved just by them simply issuing a last call. We are also appreciative they gave extra time to the dogs who were not saved after the last call date passed.
We have also seen them promote and share more of the at risk dogs on their social media page as well, which is a step in the right direction. Hopefully, they will continue these efforts to save more dogs.
RIP George and Bishop. Your lives mattered.
