Update: Progress on Crosswalk Petition at Hope & Poppasquash

Dear Supporters,

I wanted to provide an important update regarding our petition for a crosswalk at the intersection of Hope Street and Poppasquash Road.

Thanks to your incredible support, we are now up to 88 signatures! The community backing for this cause is growing, and we’re committed to pushing for change until we see real improvements in pedestrian safety.

I’ve heard back from Mr. Tim Sweeney and Mr. Nathan Calouro of the Bristol Town Council. They have forwarded the petition to the Department of Public Works and the Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit for review. The findings will be discussed at a public meeting, and residents will have the chance to provide input. 

Additionally, I spoke with Nathan Calouro on the phone, who is optimistic about our chances for success. Since this is an intersection and not in between streets, it could make the process smoother with the Rhode Island Department of Transportation. Mr. Calouro feels confident that we have a good chance of seeing this crosswalk become a reality, but that it might take a while.
