Improve Living Conditions for Dogs at Hermanus Animal Welfare Society (HAWS)

Improve Living Conditions for Dogs at Hermanus Animal Welfare Society (HAWS)
The Issue
We, the concerned members of the public, including some of us who are donors, call for immediate improvements to the living conditions and care of the dogs at Hermanus Animal Welfare.
Reports show that the dogs in the back kennels are confined to rather small, dark, cemented rooms with very little to no sunlight and very little interaction. They are at times taken out when volunteers visit, but if they do not, the dogs receive no exercise and no human attention - which is more often than none
We respectfully demand the redesign and upgrading of the back kennels to create a sunlit, spacious, and comfortable area for these dogs, improving their quality of life.
We also want operational accountability, ensuring that each dog is taken out at least twice a day for exercise and human interaction, with proof of this process provided publicly.
These steps are necessary to ensure the health, happiness, and humane treatment of the animals in their care.
We further encourage collaboration with donors, local businesses, and volunteers to support improvements, including fundraising or sponsorship for upgraded facilities.
We ask that the committee of Hermanus Animal Welfare Society (HAWS) and relevant authorities take these concerns seriously and act in the best interests of the animals.
Together, we can ensure that every animal is treated with the care and dignity it deserves.
