My name is Glen Brooks, a resident of Olde Towne Commons, a peaceful community disrupted by the growing insecurity and noise pollution around us. This small haven, which has thrived since the 1980s, has recently started to feel like anything but a home. Our peace was shattered when my aunt was tragically shot here, a dreadful incident that still haunts her and my sleepless nights.

The city parking garage on Middle Street, a structure we've had to accommodate, has become a source of disturbance at night. The lack of security makes us vulnerable to potential threats that jeopardize our safety and well-being.

Additionally, local businesses on High Street are allowed to operate at late hours with music reaching disruptive decibel levels. A study by the World Health Organization states that prolonged exposure to noise pollution can lead to sleep disturbance, cardiovascular diseases, annoyance, and other health risks (WHO, Environmental Noise Guidelines for the European Region, 2018). 

The City Planning Commission needs to recognize our plight. We ask that they take immediate steps to ensure the parking garage has adequate security during all nighttime hours. This is a critical measure in safeguarding our community's well-being and restoring our peace of mind.

Additionally, we urge the City Planning Commission to rezone Olde Towne Commons Condominiums in accordance with residential zoning laws. It's only fair that our community's tranquility is not overrun by commercial activities that disrupt our peaceful way of life.

We are residents who have called this neighborhood home for decades. We matter. Our peace matters. Our safety matters.
