In a shocking turn of events NSW commercials beekeepers with varroa mite will be able to cross into Victoria to pollinate the almonds.

Collusion between @australianalmonds and some of Australia’s biggest pollination beekeepers
are prioritising their immediate financial gain over the long-term health of the bee population. This selfish act risks spreading the destructive mites to new areas, endangering countless hives . Their short-sighted decision will  lead to catastrophic losses in bee colonies, ultimately undermining the very industry they rely on.

A collapse in wild honeybee populations will cause more expense food , potential food shortages and an end to chemical free honey.

There can be hundreds of thousands of hives from multiple beekeepers in one staging area which will quickly spread varroa to Victoria and South Australia and Queensland.

This is a stab in the back to natural beekeepers, honey producers and bee lovers who have been taking bio security measures seriously.

“Its frustrating that commonsense could not prevail their are a lot of crops in nsw for nsw beekeepers to pollinate why can’t they just stay within their border”

In nature varroa mite can only spread approximately 5km a year but with human intervention varroa will spread as quickly as trucks across Australia.
