The coin celebrates the mighty honey bee that populates Australia, producing delicious honey and contributing to the country’s agricultural success by pollinating crops. This year marks the bicentenary of Australia’s honey bee industry, with the coin commemorating both the remarkable creatures and their conscientious beekeepers. Produced by the Royal Australian Mint and the Australian Honey Bee Industry Council, the intricately-designed and delightfully bright coin celebrates the worker bee in us all.
The colourful $2 coin will be available in circulation this year and a collectible version will be available for purchase from the Royal Australian Mint from 8.30am AEST .
