Noosa Shire Council has backflipped on banning new beehives in the suburbs in response to an outpouring of opposition from beekeepers and the public.

Council is now talking with beekeeping groups and will consider amending its planning scheme.

After being criticised by thousands of people commenting on social media sites around Australia, the council has now backflipped.
