In a disturbing development the ACCC will be dropping their investigation into honey laundering.
It has been reported to savethebeesaustralia four seperate government departments leaned on the ACCC to discuss what consumers purchasing industrialised honey should and should not know.
The ACCC’s decision to pressure scientists into saying that there is no way of knowing if some Chinese honey is fake or not has exacerbated the issue.
Robert Costa hero to beekeepers in Australia spent 6 figures on the most up to date testing. Mr Costa is likely to be furious with the ACCC and is likely to pursue the matter further. This may be in the form of a class action.
Mr Costa felt compelled to highlight the perilous state of the beekeeping and pollination industries which propelled him into making the extraordinary step of spending six figures to protect Australia’s food security. Mr Costa engaged legal team King & Wood Mallesons.
The horticulturist warned that the beekeeping industry must be protected or Australia would face food security issues due to direct impacts on fruit and vegetable supplies.
The German labs who profit from testing honey are likely to protect their reputations with vigour, this has the potential to further erode Australia’s reputation and may create friction between the nations.
According to the labs in Germany NMR testing is infallible and there is no doubt honey sold at the supermarket is fake. Coles withdrew imported honey from sale but Woolworths is still selling fake honey or imitation honey. If people want to find out more about honeyfraud please Check out “Rotten” on Netflix
