They warned me I would be appalled by the tonnes of imported honey Capilano held on this premises. These beekeepers are honourable men and now feel insulted that a company from such pure origins has turned into a Importing Mecca. The food miles this honey does terrifies me. Sadly it doesn't end here, ironically a lot of this honey will get blended and exported again. To my surprise a documentary film maker and I despite travelling four hours were told we were not welcome to tour the heating facility. Before I left I was astonished to see imitation honey syrups on display from Mexico. It's heartbreaking for the souls of this company to see Capilano "Honey" sell an imitation product. Many of these guys are struggling financially as a result of these imports. I was there long enough to hear that contracted beekeepers feed their bees Chinese pollen over winter.
