Implement the Chris Busby Bill in New Orleans to Halt Distribution of Graphic Accident Images Online

The Issue

In recent years, our great city of New Orleans has seen an alarming increase in the distribution of graphic accident photos online. This invasion of victims' privacy and insensitivity toward families in the midst of mourning not only breeds trauma but also undermines societal decency. The Chris Busby Bill, named in honor of Chris Busby, a victim of such a cruel act, aims to prevent this disturbing trend.

Reports have shown that in 2019, 1 in 5 deaths involved the publication of graphic accident images, exposing untold trauma to victims’ families and friends. This disturbing statistic underscores the need for immediate legislative action. Therefore, this petition seeks to support the implementation of the Chris Busby Bill, which would criminalize the online circulation of distressing accident photographs without consent.

Through implementation, we would set stricter penalties for individuals found guilty of such insensitivity, whilst prioritizing the rights and wellbeing of accident victims and their families. Join us in ensuring the dignity, respect, and privacy of our citizens during their most vulnerable moments. Please sign and support the implementation of the Chris Busby Bill in New Orleans.
