Hi everyone!

First I want to thank all of you for your support in signing and sharing this petition linked below. We are almost at 800 signatures. Please continue sending this petition to everyone you know. Each signature makes a huge difference and strengthens our cause.

The NPSD Action School Board Meeting will take place on March 20, 2025 at 6:45 PM in-person at the Educational Service Center, 401 E. Hancock Street, Lansdale, PA 19446.

We need as many people as possible to show up to this meeting. Anyone who resides in the North Penn School District is welcome and encouraged to speak or make a statement. Anyone who decides to speak has up to 3 minutes to make a statement on why they support this cause, why it is important for both students and teachers, etc. Some examples of points to make:

  1. These cameras protect the safety of the children and ensure that things are happening the way they are supposed to. The cameras add transparency in cases where there is confusion on something happening (or not happening) in the classroom. These children cannot go home and tell their parents if something bad happened etc. The parents deserve the same transparency in being able to know what is going on with their children the same way parents of typical, speaking children do.
  2. These cameras protect the safety of the teachers in the same sense that if there is an incident that arises, the teacher's actions can be confirmed in footage to avoid miscommunication between the school and parents and teachers. For example if an altercation occurs, teachers can refer to video footage when writing incident reports, i.e. student on student violence, student on teacher violence.
  3. These cameras can prevent emergency situations from occurring. For one example, a lot of special needs children eat things they are not supposed to and in the event of determining whether a child needs emergency care, video footage can be reviewed to see exactly what happened.

These are just a few of the many reasons and examples that warrant the need for cameras in the special needs classrooms where a large amount of the population is non-verbal. Please feel free to incorporate your own personal reasons as well.

You do not need to make any statement to be present. Everyone that shows up is making a difference! You are welcome to attend the meeting and observe in support even if you do not reside in NPSD. Please share this information with your networks and add this event to your calendars. Together we can make a change and there is strength in numbers.

I am looking forward to seeing you all on March 20th at 6:45 pm!
