My story with motorbike accidents is both personal and heart-wrenching. Back in 2002, my father suffered a severe accident on his way to work due to the loss of traction on his motorbike's tyres on a roundabout. The accident was so serious it damaged both of his shoulders to the point of needing replacements. Fast forward to 2024, I lost one of my dearest friends, a vibrant individual in his 30's to another motorcycle accident. Tragically, he died at the scene. Just four months later, another person close to my heart, whom I considered a brother, landed in a life-threatening motorbike accident. His life support was later switched off by his dad, cutting short a beautiful life at the mere age of 26.

These personal losses illustrate an issue larger than just road accidents. It's about motorbike safety - for the riders and those sharing the roads with them. With motorcyclists being 27 times more likely to die in an accident than a passenger car occupant, it is evident that motorbike safety is an issue that requires immediate attention. We need stricter safety measures put in place, better infrastructure, and increased awareness among all road users. It's time our leaders took motorbike safety on the road seriously. This is not about absolving bikers of their responsibilities, but rather about providing a safer road environment for everyone involved.
