I have got a meeting with my local MP and councillors in the next couple of weeks to discuss an SEND reform of all mainstream education. 
This could include mandatory SEND training for ALL teachers, breakout spaces, outdoor education/life skills - gardening, growing food, cooking, how to manage their money, learning our citizens rights and how the world works. Imagine teachers using different techniques to teach, one size doesn’t fit all as we well know. 
Shaking up the curriculum will get kids interested in school again and with the inclusivity of an SEND reform we can start to get rid of the stigmas attached to the needs of thousands of children who are currently isolated in or pushed out of education. 
Neurodivergent and neurotypical children need this change. The suicide rate among our young people is heartbreaking and there is so much pressure to perform in school now as all they care about are statistics and not the welfare of the children involved. I’ve seen plenty of ‘normal’ children lose interest in school and refuse to attend so the problem is not just for the few, it’s for the many and these young people need us to be their voice! 
Im currently discussing with professionals in education other possible changes and I’m open to any suggestions from parents as we’re the ones that live it! We know what our children need and now is the time to tell the government what we want to see, feel free to message me or comment with any ideas.
