I, a native of Dera Ismail Khan, KPK, Pakistan, have been witness to the devastating impacts of climate change. My home town, once known for its tranquil climate, is now infamous as this year's hottest spot on our Planet Earth, with temperatures soaring above 52°C and a heat index reaching an unbearable 60°C.

In 1981, as a young boy, I began planting trees to counter this alarming environmental change. Later, I founded a group named "Save Earth شجر دوست". This group fights against the catastrophic consequences of global warming impacting our lives and our hometown, urging us, and the world, to invest more in our warriors of nature - trees. 

Trees are a simple, cost-effective solution. According to the USDA Forest Service, a single young, healthy tree can absorb as much as 48 pounds of carbon dioxide annually, and a mature tree could absorb as much as a ton, making them a significant fighter in combating climate change (source: USDA Forest Service Study).

Our plea is this - for global support to initiate and effectively implement a mass tree planting campaign in Dera Ismail Khan, with the goal to counteract the escalating temperatures and mitigate the impacts of climate change. The world can no longer afford to turn a blind eye on the drastic changes our climate is undergoing. It's time to act now.
