According to the Jammu and Kashmir Traffic Police, there were 8 reported drowning incidents in 2017 alone, in and around Dal Lake, that resulted in loss of life. These accidents are magnified by the lack of mandatory safety precautions like life jackets. This is more than an issue of regulation - it's a matter of life and death.

To prevent further tragedies, we must ensure the mandatory use of life jackets on all Dal Lake boats, for both locals and tourists. This simple yet critical measure can save countless lives.
