This petition stems from a deeply personal experience that I, like millions of Americans each year, have unfortunately gone through. I have personally had an Ulta box stolen from my front porch. The thief knew exactly what to target because of the Ulta logo displayed on the outer surface of the box. Additionally, my best friend captured video footage of a UPS driver walking back on the truck with a Nike box, that was supposed to delivered to her house, which was identifiable due to the Nike insignia on the outside as well as the Just Do It tape. Those boxes along with many others like Target shown in the picture above make their boxes identifiable from a far distance.  

This isn't just our problem. It's a widespread crisis. According to a survey by C+R Research, 36% of Americans have been victims of package theft. Given that the corporate logos on shipping boxes are often a blatant indicator for thieves, a change in packaging policy would go a long way in combatting this issue. As alot of other people have most likely experienced because of the delivered photo their and even though you have camera's  unfortunately you were still unable to be refunded or replace the product.

This petition calls for a simple yet effective strategy: we demand that corporations start putting logos on the inside of their shipping boxes instead of on the outside or stop branding them all together. This would make delivered packages less attractive to would-be thieves, as they would have no way of knowing the box's contents.

Act now and help us cut down on porch piracy Together, we can urge corporations to consider the personal safety and security of their customers. If the boxes were plain and the return address labels were very simplistic, thieves not be enticed by the outside of the box. Just knowing where the box is from is temping.
