Here’s an exciting update!

💜 JERI’S LAW UPDATE — WE ARE MOVING FORWARD

I wanted to take a moment to update everyone who has supported Jeri’s Law and this petition.

What started as a petition has grown into something much bigger.

We are now working to take this issue beyond signatures and toward real legislative change in Indiana.

And I am incredibly grateful to share that Indiana State Representative Julie McGuire has stepped in to help.

Rep. McGuire has joined the effort and is working with me to explore legislation that could turn the goals of Jeri’s Law into real change in Indiana.

That is a HUGE step forward.

This is exactly what we have been fighting for—not simply awareness, but action.

The goal of Jeri’s Law remains clear:

When a victim reaches out for help and requests an emergency protection order, there should not be a dangerous gap where that victim is still left without immediate protection.

We are working toward legislation that would provide immediate, temporary protection while an emergency protection order is being reviewed, including when courts are closed.

There is still a lot of work ahead.

But now, we have taken an important step from petition → proposal → legislative action.

And this is where every single signature becomes even more important.

We need Indiana lawmakers to know that Hoosiers are paying attention.

We need them to know that people want change.

And we need them to know that Jeri’s Law has the support of the people of Indiana.

I want to personally thank Representative Julie McGuire for stepping forward and being willing to work toward a solution.

And thank you to every person who has signed, shared, encouraged me, contacted lawmakers, spoken about Jeri’s Law, or simply refused to let this issue disappear.

The petition got us to the door.

Now we are working to open it.

💜 Jeri’s Law is moving forward.

And we are not stopping until we have done everything we can to make sure victims in Indiana can get protection when they need it most.
