We just passed 700 signatures and got our first official endorsement!
Thank you to everyone who has signed and shared this petition. What started with a handful of signatures from my own street in Laguna Niguel has grown into real support across Orange County — we're now past 700 signatures from 35 different cities, from Huntington Beach to Costa Mesa to Santa Ana.
Big news: Laguna Niguel Mayor Ray Gennawey has officially endorsed this petition — our first backing from an elected official, and a sign that this issue is being taken seriously.
As a quick reminder, here's what we're asking for:
1. A minimum age of 16 to ride an e-bike
2. Mandatory speedometers on all e-bikes
3. A county-issued e-bike license, earned through a rules-of-the-road test
4. A $160 fine for violations, targeting parents/guardians of underage riders
5. A Youth Bike Safety Fund, built from those fines, for real safety improvements
