Hello,
Thanks so much for supporting this campaign for safer streets for our children. Just a quick update and an action you can do to help make this happen. We pressed the council to make sure there was a 'Children Crossing' sign installed on Beach Road' and to remove the old 'Patrol' sign (because there hasn't been a crossing patrol there in years!) They finally installed this, after having to wait quite some time for a delivery 'from the manufacturers'. This is a small win, but there is still very little commitment from the council to even consider the need for a crossing here.
Since it is 'Walk to School Week', it might bump this up their list of considerations if we were to all write to the Road Safety team asking them to consider it as a matter of urgency. So, I've knocked up a template letter which you find here.
Note: To use this template, please download and save it, or copy and paste the text. Then add your own name and address and send it off to the Road Safety Team at trafficandroadsafety@southtyneside.gov.uk
This might help South Tyneside Council see how important road safety it is to children crossing at Beach Road.
We can make it happen!
Thanks again for supporting
Nic
