For those of you who remember Frank DeCotis, owner of La Stanza Restaurant in South Philly, we are trying to get him back home where he belongs. He moved to Philadelphia from Montreal at the age of 19, married his wife Lisa & had 6 children together. Unfortunately, after putting his entire heart and soul into La Stanza for over 12 years, he was arrested due to tax evasion at the age of 46. We are not negating the crime. He was found guilty, ordered to pay restitution and we lost our home and our business and we were financially drained but together and happy, and slowly rebuilding our lives. Several months later my father was physically removed from our home and lives and our world was shattered. He was deported back to Montreal after being a hard working permanent resident for almost 30 years in Philadelphia. He now has 6 grandchildren, 4 of them living in Philadelphia with his 2 daughters. Our goal is to fight to change the USA immigration laws with respect to petty crimes and to redifine the aggravated felony law and it's extremely harsh punishments for permanent residents. Laws change everyday with a simple movement such as this. As our family begins a long journey to get back our lives by reunification through government change and people like you, hopefully not only our goals but the goals of other deportees and their families can once again come together. It has been 8 hard years of separation & this petition is a start to a huge movement to hopefully change a family's life for the better. It is a human rights violation. To never be denied entrance to America is harsh and we are simply seeking a lighter sentence, a re-examination of this law for the reunification and as this site states a CHANGE!!! Thank you all for your help!!
