The recent tragic death of AJ Fruend by the hands of his own parents has shocked this state and there is the well deserved public outcry for his killers to be brought to justice. Sadly, AJ’s case is one of many like it that are happening with what seems like increasing frequency. The very people that are supposed to be protecting these children are the ones harming them. When the proper authorities are contacted, sadly they allow the children to stay in the home or remove them for a short time and return them to the abusive and/or deplorable conditions. Since DCFS does not seem to be a credible deterrent to child abuse or neglect it is my feeling that anyone convicted in a court of law of murdering or raping a child should receive the death penalty automatically with no option for life in prison if a plea deal is struck. ANY guilty verdict, minimum sentence is death on the first offense. NO APPEALS granted.
