Together, we're sending a strong message that communities across NSW want safer neighbourhoods, greater accountability for offenders and better support for our police.
We've received an incredible amount of positive feedback from people experiencing these issues in their own communities. We've also received some criticism—and that's okay. Healthy discussion is important.
We want to be clear: this petition is not about banning e-bikes, e-scooters or motorbikes. We support responsible riders and believe young people should be able to enjoy riding safely.
Our concern has never been the bikes themselves—it is the criminal behaviour of those who steal them, ride dangerously, damage property and deliberately flee police. Those actions affect victims, responsible riders and the wider community.
We welcome the NSW Government's new powers to seize and destroy illegally used bikes. However, those already stealing bikes and committing crimes are unlikely to hand them in voluntarily simply because the law has changed. Police also continue to face restrictions when it comes to pursuing many offenders, allowing criminals to keep exploiting the system.
This petition is about supporting NSW Police, protecting victims, holding offenders accountable and making our communities safer.
