An objective article that includes explanations from Majlis Daerah Raub, Ikhasas (the Developer), Experts from University Kebangsaan Malaysia's Research Centre in Fraser's Hill (PPBF) and Persatuan Alam & Warisan Bukit Fraser (PAWBF) by Pashmina Binwani for Macaranga.
As we have highlighted before, the reason for future job opportunities for local residents given by the Developer is redundant. Fraser's Hill unlike no other place does not have unemployment. Most residents are there because of a job. Very few can own properties and have the opportunity to live there unless they are employed there or they own second homes there. Once a resident is retired they are forced to leave the hill unless they are lucky enough to own a house there. There are very limited properties to be owned in Fraser's Hill.
This development itself will increase and nearly double the number of residents on the hill. If the hotel requires 200 staff, that's at least 180 new people on the hill. 20 could possibly be locals already employed by existing hotels who want better opportunities. if half of them own vehicles, that's extra 90 vehicles on the hill even before the hotel guests arrive.
