The criteria for calls in iim's gives a lot of weightage to prior academic record of the candidate .This ignores a lot of good candidates. There are a lot of good reasons why candidates with low academic scores should be considered . These are :

• The candidates come from different schools and colleges which are affiliated to different boards and universities . Judging them on the same criteria is not fair.
• Past records do give some insights into the candidate but they should never be the reason for outright rejection. The present level of candidates should be the basis of judgment.
• Candidates hail from different backgrounds and they might falter at the early stages of their academic lives and to assume that they would fail later on is a wrong assumption provided they perform well in cat .
