In order to make IFLA accessible to a wider audience and to improve the quality and impartiality of the work and contributions, I believe that IFLA should reduce the annual conference's registration fee for Professional Groups members and invited speakers.
Reduce annual conferences fees for members and speakers
IFLA’s traditional requirement is that speakers and professional groups members from the sections pay their fee to attend the annual conference, restricting access to those librarians who do not get a funding from their organizations or are not sponsored by private companies. This group of attendees have to make a big personal effort if they want to participate in the conference.
I believe that IFLA Professional Groups members and invited speakers build the core of IFLA and should be admitted to attend annual conferences with a remarkable discount on fees.
This may help making IFLA accessible to a wider audience and could improve the quality and impartiality of the work and contributions.
