I thank everyone that has signed my petition so far and would like to update you. 

Our family is currently outraged to learn that our son's killer Neomi Velado who is on parole after serving only 2.5 years of her 9-year sentence was allowed to get her driver's license back!!

A mere 6 months after her release on Valentine's Day 2026, she was able to obtain a valid California Driver's License on August 14, 2026. 

Velado had three prior hit and runs and was in traffic schools when she killed Benjamin.  She was impaired and texting when she killed him!

Why does the California DMV continue to allow this kind of driver to be licensed??  Who is protecting our road users??

Isn't killing someone and running enough??  And now we are allowing her back on the road??!

This is outrageous!  It is bad enough that she only served 2.5 years of her 9-year sentence.  Now she will be on the road with other innocent road users.

My son deserved better!  She left him to die in the street and now she is back on the street!
