Shut Down Irish Prostitution and Sex Trafficking Websites

Trafficked and exploited women and girls are being sold for sex on .IE websites. This is illegal under Irish law and the Government has the power to stop this immediately.
Some prostitution websites are hosted abroad to deliberately circumvent Irish law but there are also .IE prostitution websites hosted in Ireland that the Government is failing to shut down.
Hundreds of ‘massage’ and ‘escort’ adverts are posted every day on websites like VivaStreet.ie and Locanto.ie.
It is overwhelmingly the bodies of migrant women and girl that are for sale. These blatant adverts focus on keyword and phrases associated with the sex trafficking of young women and girls such as “NEW”, “YOUNG”, “VISITING” and “24/7”. The adverts include phone numbers and addresses where these women and girls can be found. Many of these women and girls are the victims of sex trafficking and are being forced to have sex with dozens of Irish men daily who find them through these adverts.
It has been illegal to advertise prostitution in Ireland since the Criminal Justice (Public Order) Acts 1994. It has been illegal to purchase sex in Ireland since the Criminal Law (Sexual Offences) Act 2017. The IE Domain Registry regularly shuts down .IE websites it deems to be breaking the law but to date it has shamefully failed to act against illegal prostitution and sex trafficking websites.
Sign this petition to demand the Government and the IE Domain Registry use the powers they already have to immediately shut down all prostitution and sex trafficking websites hosted in Ireland.
