NEW YEAR, NEW CITY! Join us to celebrate our campaign victory!

We’re so happy to announce that after our powerful Real Sanctuary Now campaign, the Minneapolis city council voted unanimously to strengthen the city’s separation ordinance that prohibits local law enforcement from collaborating with ICE and other agencies enforcing immigration law!! When we fight, we win!
Minneapolis now has one of the strongest ordinances in the country. The new ordinance prohibits the use of city property and other resources for immigration enforcement. Read more about how MIRAC mobilized the community to give public testimony at the last city council hearing on the ordinance HERE.
MIRAC collected and delivered over 3,000 petitions to Mayor Frey, organized four protests, called three press conferences, packed two city council meetings, had 11 people arrested at a sit-in at Frey’s office, organized hundreds of calls to the mayor and city council, and mobilized hundreds of neighbors to fight for the stronger separation ordinance. And the fight is not over! We will continue fighting for each other, empowering our neighbors, and holding our leaders accountable.
Join MIRAC on January 10th at 1:00pm at the Northwest corner of Powderhorn Park (10th Ave & 32nd St in Minneapolis) for NEW YEAR, NEW CITY our campaign victory rally and march! Together we will celebrate our big success with this campaign and hold Minneapolis city leaders accountable to their promise for real sanctuary for immigrants!
