Roberto Beristain, Owner of Eddies, Husband, Father, Grandfather and Friend

0 have signed. Let’s get to 5,000!

Roberto Beristain is the owner of Eddies Steak Shed in Granger, Indiana. On February 6, 2017, Roberto went to renew his work permit in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was detained from a voluntary deportation order from the year 2000. Roberto has since then received a work permit, drivers license and social security card. He is now being held in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

In 2000, Roberto took his wife and stepson to see Niagara Falls. Due to a wrong turn, they ended up at the border of The United States and Canada and Roberto was detained. A bail was paid in the amount of $1500. Roberto was given a voluntary deportation order but with Roberto expecting his first child soon, this was not an option for him to leave. He believed to be the supportive and loving husband and father he was made to be.

Roberto has been married to Helen for 17 years and they have 3 children. Maria (15), Jasmine (14) and Demetri (8) all U.S. citizens. He also has a stepson, Phil Kolliopoulos(wife Ashley), and is a (step)grandfather to Kolten Kolliopoulos. Roberto has always been a family oriented father. Trying to explain to the kids why this is happening to their father is not an easy thing to do.

Roberto is very dedicated to his restaurant, Eddies Steak Shed(Granger, IN), and staff, providing income to 20 families. Roberto is the cook, buser, server, bartender and host, filling in wherever possible at his restaurant. He is hard-working, genuine and the most trustworthy person.

In Roberto's free time, he is a star racquetball player and has been able to go to championships at Notre Dame and IU.

After years and years of waiting for his case to be reopened from 2000, we still have no response. Helen has filed the Petition I130 and has been approved, even though, there are still more paths to be taken. Please sign our petition to help bring Roberto home to his family, friends, staff and community. This is an outstanding, hardworking individual who deserves to be an American Citizen. Thank you.
