ICC: Don't fine Wahab Riaz & Shane Watson - and let aggression back into cricket!
The Issue
Cricket is a fiercely competitive sport, not a tea party. Wahab Riaz & Shane Watson stared each other down, made gestures, blew a few kisses and maybe swore a bit. So what? Sledging should be allowed to add some rivalry and aggression to the game. This will also serve to re-balance a game that is too heavily tilted in favour of the batsman.
The ICC needs to stop acting like the headmistress of a finishing school and let some aggression back into the game. Let this petition be a message to the ICC that:
1. Cricket fans feel that aggression and rivalry on the field is fun - just like a wicket or a sixer
2. The ICC code of conduct needs to be revised to allow more aggression on the field
3. As a first step, the decision to fine Wahab Riaz & Shane Watson should be reversed.
