Asalaam Alaikum, We have some positive movement to report: First, we want to underscore that while the intent of this petition is to support the office of the imam, our current imam is not related to or directing the actions fueling this initiative. The three action items outlined in the petition are intended to: 1. Ensure IANT is run as prescribed by Islam, adhering to its laws while abiding by the laws in the state and country within which we reside. In particular, this applies to the proposed bylaws. 2. Ensure operational effectiveness and efficiency within IANT which will ultimately support the office of the imam’s purpose. 3. Promote transparency in IANT’s governance and processes directing it. 4. Incite positive engagement, interest and involvement from IANT’s community. 5. Once these items are addressed and adhered to, we will be promoting direct efforts how you can support IANT, including by becoming a member at www.iant.com/membership to have your voice heard. Second, key parties behind this petition and those authoring IANT’s proposed bylaws have met this week with the results prompting inclusion of religious scholars in crafting and approval of the proposed document charting IANT’s new governance structure.
