I stand with Dr Piesse - Doctors must be able to act in their patient's best interests!

All Doctors, Nurses and Health Practitioners must be allowed to practice in good faith and to act in the best interests of their patients without fear of prosecution for putting patient safety before Government policy.
We call on the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) to allow/permit Dr John Piesse to continue treating his patients in a manner that is lawful and guided by his thorough education and extensive experience.
We also call on the National Health Practitioner Ombudsman and Privacy Commissioner to oversee the investigation of Dr John Piesse and to hold AHPRA accountable for a fair outcome that prioritises the safety of many health compromised individuals.
Dr John Piesse is an Australian Medical Doctor and Melbourne based General Practitioner who is under investigation from the regulatory body AHPRA. He is facing prosecution and deregistration for practicing as he sees best for each of his patients, based on his extensive education and his 40 years of clinical experience.
Dr Piesse has gone through a process of informed consent with families prior to vaccination. Almost all other medical procedures legally require informed consent, which is when the Doctor tells a patient about the risks of going ahead with the procedure. For vaccination, informed consent would include disclosing all the possible adverse reactions listed on a vaccine package insert. It’s almost never done, because Doctors are required by the Government’s regulatory body to tell patients that “Vaccines are safe and effective” which is further enforced by the Government’s repeated messages that “The science is settled”.
But what if they’re not safe and effective? Or if they're not safe and effective for YOUR child?
Dr Piesse began researching into the science of vaccination after he observed that approximately 50% of his infant vaccine recipients became quite ill. He has stated that less than 5% of vaccine reactions are reported and that most are passed off as ‘just a coincidence’. He isn’t ‘promoting anti-vaxer practices’ as the media and Health Minister Greg Hunt have suggested, he is providing an opportunity for informed consent. Dr Piesse has first hand experience with vaccine injury. In his words;
“I have been encountering cases of vaccine injury for over 40 years. In June it was a happy, healthy nearly 5-year-old whose parents were required to put her on a catch-up schedule, in order to get her into kindergarten. She won’t be going to kinder. She’s in a wheel-chair, brain-damaged. Her life ruined. Then came a friend’s father who died after a flu vaccine, and last week a 4 year old boy, made autistic by a catch-up schedule.”
Any good and effective strategy designed to achieve public health should be listening to such experiences of educated and experienced Doctors, Nurses and Health Practitioners. Instead, we have a culture where no-one will speak about it because they fear exactly what is happening to Dr Piesse.
This petition is not about individual vaccine stance or beliefs. It is not to induce a pro or con style debate. This is about our Government dictating what trusted professionals can and can’t say. People trust that their Doctor has their best interests at heart, but how many trust that in the Government? Make no mistake, this is government overreach. Maybe it’s a strategy that is helping the Government to achieve vaccination targets as part of a wider public health goal? But is that ethical, fair and reasonable? Or is it deceit, censorship and trickery?
Dr John Piesse is lawfully practicing in the best interests of his patients, and rightfully offering them informed consent prior to a medical procedure. The part that we haven’t yet addressed is that of medical exemptions to vaccination. Do you know that the Government’s approved medical exemption form severely limits what a medical exemption can be given for? That many children with serious medical and health issues don’t ‘pass the test’, and that many parents are told that they can vaccinate in hospital in case their child needs to be resuscitated? The Australian Government wants you to believe that the medical exemption form is there to protect the children that need protecting, but their form leaves large numbers of children at risk. Quite likely understanding this, Dr Piesse used his own clinical judgement coupled with his patients’ detailed history to decide if vaccination, based on his professional opinion, was or wasn't appropriate for his patients. He did this knowing he had the right to clinical autonomy and that the paperwork he was providing met legislative requirements.
Everything Dr Piesse did, and everything he is being investigated for, was perfectly legal and medically indicated. Isn’t that what you’d expect of your Doctor? Isn’t that what you’d expect of all Doctors, Nurses and Health Practitioners?
Australian people, let’s send a message to the Australian Government, and to all Doctors, Nurses and Health Practitioners, that we expect our best interests to be the priority of our practitioner. We do not accept being treated by practitioners who feel censored, and unable to be truthful for fear of prosecution. We do not accept Doctors being prevented from providing their patients with informed consent. We demand that the law represent the interests of the people, and that it respect professional opinions and allow lawful and informed practitioner client relationships and conversations to exist.
