Support WA's gold mining communities and help the industry thrive

The issue

Nat's one of the 20,000 Western Australians who work in gold mining, an industry which has been part of our history for more than a century.

Gold mining provides the economic lifeblood for many regional communities and our miners pay more than $300 million in taxes and royalties each year. That money helps to build our roads, schools, hospitals and police stations.

But people like Nat also contribute to their local communities in inspiring ways - like volunteering for St. John Ambulance - providing essential services which just wouldn't exist without gold mining.

The Government of Western Australia is considering increasing the royalty rate charged to gold miners.  We know that any increase could result in mine closures and the loss of up to 1500 jobs. 4000 gold mining jobs have already been lost over the last 12 months. That means community services which are sustained by gold mining could also be at risk.

We are asking the Government of Western Australia to reject any proposal to increase gold royalty rates.

If you back Nat, and the thousands like her who are helping keep Western Australia's regional communities and economy strong, please sign this petition.

By doing so, you will be supporting Western Australia's heart of gold.

Thank you
