Please watch this one minute video which sums up why our petition is so important.
If you can then get just ONE person to sign our petition - ahead of our protest and petition delivery at Downing Street this Thursday - it will really help Frances. She and thousands of others, are desperate to be reunited with their families.
As Frances says in the video, human rights are out of kilter when 90,000 people can attend a festival in Leeds, while she is barred from spending time with her beloved son and daughter, in her own room at her care home. The Government must urgently act to end this disparity in freedoms.
Eighteen months into the pandemic care home residents are still being denied the right to a family life. For them, there has been no “Freedom day” and some residents are only allowed one fifteen minute visit - from just one family member - every two or three weeks.
Imagine how you’d feel if this was your loved one, who was left feeling abandoned and isolated. Illness doesn’t just target old people, any one of us could end up living in a care home. From young adults and children, to the elderly and disabled, the lack of visits is causing severe anxiety and mental health issues.
If the Government feel that restrictions should still be in place, then those restrictions should apply to all. Just because you happen to live in a care home doesn't mean you shouldn’t be penalised for the sake of everyone else’s freedom.
Thanks for supporting this important campaign to end the inhumane visiting restrictions in care homes.
If you’re affected by this issue please join the Rights for Residents protest at the gates of Downing Street at 1pm on Thursday 16th September. Google our website for details.
