I am An Athlete, Too

Wheelchair racers in track earn points for their teams in one of three ways, depending on the model the state decides to use:

1. Racing against other wheelchair athletes in a separate wheelchair event.

2. Racing at the same time as traditional athletes, but receiving points if a certain time, or "standard", is met.

3. Receiving points based on the number of para-athletes competing (e.g. one athlete would win one point.  If 2 athletes are competing, the top finisher would receive a point.  If 3 athletes are competing, the top 2 finishers would receive points, etc.)

In this way, para-athletes benefit their team, while in no way subtracting from the competition of traditional athletes.  Win-win!
