Support responsible dog walkers- no outright ban in public parks in Cardiff
Cardiff Council are proposing a ban on dogs in many public parks in the Cardiff area. They are proposing a Public Spaces Protection Order which would stop responsible dog owners walking their dogs freely. This punishes the majority and will not address the issue that irresponsible dog ownership presents. The proposal is disproportionate and bias and does not take into account the impact this would have on an individuals health and well being, local businesses who rely on the trade of dog walkers or the welfare of the dog. There are other ways to tackle irresponsible dog ownership that the Council must consider by ensuring they engage and work in partnership with the people this will most impact to arrive at a solution that supports their and national wider policy frameworks such as health & well being and access to open spaces.
